Enslaved By Choice Poem by Ifeoluwa Daniel

Enslaved By Choice

Welcome to my fatherland, where shadows reign
Corruption's dark throne, where justice goes in vain
A land of milk and honey, overflowing with deceit
Yet, its people live like ants, beneath their feet

A place where freedom's flame, is but a distant spark
The masses choose their chains, and willingly embark
On a journey of despair, where hope doth slowly fade
Their slave master's whims, the wind that they carefully shade

Their daily bread is fear, their nights a restless sleep
Their lives a constant strife, their future dark and deep
The system's heavy hand, that crushes all that's free
Leaves only desperation, for you and me

In this land of paradox, where wrong is made right
The people yearn for change, but dare not take flight
For in the silence, they've grown accustomed to their pain
And the chains that bind them tight, feel like a comfort vain.
