Enlightenment Poem by Rajesh Thankappan

Enlightenment

Rating: 5.0

As we dig deeper and deeper
Into the earth to discover groundwater
The depth we dug remains a hole
Until we strike water, and thereafter,
The hole transforms itself into a well.

Likewise, when we did deeper and deeper
Into our psyche as a persistent seeker
We, at the end of it, shall find the light
That resides in us, as well as in the creator
That are identical, in their true nature

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
N.B. According to the Advaita school of Hindu philosophy, every soul is a God particle. The universe has no existence separate from Brahman. The experiencing self (jīva) and the transcendental self of the Universe (ātman) are in reality identical (both are Brahman) , though the individual self seems different as space within a container seems different from space as such. Knowledge of Brahman removes these errors and causes liberation from the cycle of transmigration and worldly bondage. Various individuals' near-death experiences have steered me towards believing in the Advaita school of philosophy and the concept of collective universal consciousness as God.

Yes, Descartes was certainly true. We exist in our thoughts and without thought there can be no conscious existence per se.

When we dig deep into our conscience, we find ourselves "I think, therefore I am" is a famous philosophical statement by French philosopher and mathematician René Descartes
