Endless Worldly Possessions Poem by Richard Antwi

Endless Worldly Possessions

It's a world of competition
A world of ‘I have' but ‘you don't! '
You're measured by whatever you do or possess
Measured by the property or properties you have
Measured by the quality or quantity of cars you owe
You're even measured by the beauty or wealth of your spouse
Measured by how smart your children are
Good to have them all, though
Being the human, we are
Life might not be complete without them
But is it good to depend on them?
Worldly properties that can cease to exist with time?
While possessions aren't inherently evil
They shouldn't be a deity that hinders spiritual growth,

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Worldly possessions are good but should override our spiritual growth
