I was surprised that you would experience loneliness and world weariness.

I identify completely with the feelings of loneliness and sadness which you feel and express so well. Also compassion for victims of the disaster.

A very nice poem Fabrizio. Unlike the earthquake survivors, the seeming purposelessness of individual sadness that is largely invisible to others is what makes it doubly cruel. That is why people will channel their real sadness into other things that also has an underlying sadness.

I can feel the depth of your feeling, it was a strong poem and indeed a remarkable tribute to write a past history in poetry version..

'Where the earthquake struck and Ravaged and killed.' I remember reading your ''The Wind And The River - Excerpt '' and feeling moved. The same feeling is here - the destruction of human lives, properties and 'history and art' (had to add that one too) at the hands of violent Nature is always, always painful... Strangely however, the lines quoted above actually made me read your poem in a very different light - it felt as if the earthquake were a band of soldier of a King who had been reading Machiaveli... I know it's a strange association, but perhaps Nature sometimes turn into this - shows us who is the 'boss' once in a while... A 'terrible beauty' from you Fabrizio.. Thank you a lot for sharing.. Grazie..

So sad to hear the money never went to those who deserved it, the quake victims if Irpinia. While people like me often indulge in themselves and call it poetry it is so wonderful to see such great intentions behind a poem for a change, Fabrizio. Thank you so much dear friend for sharing.

End of the year came lonely and The beginning of the month caught a glimpse of My soul in Irpinia. Earthquake struck and killed many that brought sadness and pain. Sadness is deeply painted here with sorrows of words wonderfully.

******************************************* *** more about the ''Irpinia Earthquake'': - It happened at the end of November 1980, and destroyed a large area* in the region Campania (* it stroke in particular 'Irpinia', an area South East of Naples) . - There were c.3000 dead. The homeless were c.300,000. They were poor people (it was and still is an underdeveloped area) and of all the money spent there, only a fraction went to them.. - A great deal (some say half of the total sum spent!) went to the criminal cartels (In Campania there is one of the 3 strong Italian 'mafias': it is called Camorra; the other 2 being the classical/original Mafia -Cosa Nostra-, from Sicilia/Sicily, and Ndrangheta in Calabria) along with corrupted politicians and civil servants [ as it OFTEN HAPPENS IN ITALY ] *******************************************
