I presume she is talking of menstrual cycles and perhaps menopause- -she has a way of writing about two or more things simultaneously. She has double vision to be able to do this. to see the flip sides of the same human emotion or event. Both philosophic and autobiographic. Powerful and dauntless.
The blood is thicker than the roots of trees, more persistent than my poetry, more baroque than her bruised music.
