Embodied - Beings - And - Limited - Knowledge
The answer to the question
why human beings are not
able to know God is:
"The knowledge of every knower
is ruled according to
its own nature" (Summa Theologiae I: 12: 4) .
This follows from another principle:
action follows being (ST I: 75: 3) .
In other words, something
acts according to its mode of being.
Since humans are embodied
beings we cannot know God
unless God Himself reveals.
