Elegy For Kuro Poem by Lilith Van'Nightinveil

Elegy For Kuro

Kuro, my ray of sunshine, my dearest friend,
From the first moment, when I helped you into this world,
To the last, when I held you close, I was your human,
And you, my quiet, unique ball of fur.

You were an oddball with a spirit so gentle,
A quiet soul, yet your presence spoke volumes.
You crawled into bags, your little sanctuary,
Finding comfort in the simplest of places.

Boxes were your playground, no matter the size,
"If I fit, I sits, " you'd declare with your eyes.
You greeted me at the door, a loyal companion,
Following me, sharing your gentle affection.

Belly rubs were your favorite, a trusting bond we shared,
You'd sleep by my head, our hearts beating in unison.
In the night, you'd cuddle close, a warm, soft presence,
Your purring a lullaby, a comfort in the dark.

A headbutt to my hand, a gentle nudge,
Reminding me that love was just a touch away.
In you, I found a child, in me, you found a mother,
Our bond irreplaceable, a love beyond measure.

Today, my heart shatters with the weight of your absence,
A piece of me lost, never to be whole again.
You made this world bearable, my dear Kuro,
For the past two years, you were my anchor, my joy.

Rest now, my beloved, in peace and in light,
Though you are gone, your memory stays,
A cherished part of me, forever.
Kuro, my sweet familiar, you will always be my sunshine.
