This is not a poem.
It is the true story of a person I will call Eddie.
That is not his real name. I chose that name because back in those days I did not know anyone named Eddie.

This has been sent to my Favorites (wherever PH keeps them, IF PH does) . ***** 5 stars at least. SEE MY EARLIER COMMENTS from years ago; I'd forgotten reading this before today.
The 'Mario the Magnificent' dragon statue is on the campus of Drexel University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.
This is one of the saddest stories I have ever read. Even though it's not a 'poem' I gave it five stars.
Ron, It's NOT a poem? ! Well, that's what it says, and there IS not rhyming, it is not Acrostic, or Limerick, or etc. except it MIGHT be Free Verse poetry; I don't know. It does look like it has stanzas, but they might JUST be paragraphs.
re my previous comment, i now see PH deleted/censored H-e-l-l, the word, in two places. here is my fix: " LDS believes in H-ell? ? I Googled my question & found: " Latter-day revelation speaks of H-ell in at least two senses" bri :)
1 - I think, in the end, Eddie made the right decision. Is suicide against LDS religion? ? ? Good grief! ! Divorce, Addiction, and finally! ! LDS believes in? ? I Googled my question & found: " Latter-day revelation speaks of in at least two senses" , neither of which sounded promising to me. Interesting. bri :)
Very finely expressed thought provoking sharing with joy and grief. Being blessed with good children, good wife, grandchildren and little great grandson life is filled with happiness. Very wise poem shared. Also wishing you and your great family a very happy new year. May God bring lots of happiness for you all....10
There are many references to dragons in the Bible, but Revelation 12: 7-8 seems to fit this situation: 7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,8 and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. My thinking is that the dragon was the devil, and that he was kicked out of Heaven, and is now stirring up conflict and temptations here on Earth.
All of us who knew Eddie knew immediately that 'the Dragon' in his suicide note referred to the devil, and not just to the D&D game.
That's a sad story. I have known of suicides, but never had the details. Thanks for sharing. I have heard of a video game so addicting that people wear diapers so that they don't have to stop to go to the bathroom!
Revisiting this stirring story, I got tears in my eyes. Well done!
