Ed Sullivan's Chance Encounter Poem by Richard Wlodarski

Ed Sullivan's Chance Encounter

Rating: 5.0

The Swedes were screaming and fainting
After hugely successful tour
The Londoners are mobbing you
At your famous Heathrow Airport
Ed Sullivan is in their midst
After talent-scouting in Europe
Pandemonium to his witness
Trying to catch his flight to New York
Paving way for British Invasion

The infamous Merseybeat sound
At the mercy of Capitol
No promotion from dinosaurs
For 'Please Please Me' and 'She Loves You'
And 'From Me To You' is a bust
Lennon-McCartney to hold hands
With the American market
Write 'I Want To Hold Your Hand'

Epstein smooth talks Ed Sullivan
The Beatles headline three great shows
Capitol releases
'I Want To Hold Your Hand'
The brave British Invasion
Takes America by storm

If not for this chance encounter, it would have taken America much longer to recognize The Band of the Century!

THX, LeeAnn for being the first to read and so positively comment on a poem that I felt I really needed to write!
