Easy Way Out Poem by Lamar Cole

Easy Way Out

In the roaring twenties some men wore pinstripe double breasted suits and two tone shoes.
And some drank a lot of booze.
Some men wanted to take the easy way out.
They would rob and steal, they were such louts.

But some just took care of their families and worked hard.
And always prayed to the Lord.
Some men liked to gamble and play cards.
And some just liked to drive their old Fords.

Some men thought that they could score points.
By hanging around at the juke joints.
Some men liked the simple country life.
Healthy kids and a loving wife.

Some men liked to hunt and fish.
Live a good life, this was their wish.
Some liked to travel the open road.
Free as a bird with no heavy loads.
