Ease On Down Poem by Lilly Nguyen

Ease On Down

I pledge allegiance to the Colorism of the United States of America,

and to the Rich, White, and Wealthy for which it stands,

one Nation under a Christian God,

divisible,

with acknowledgement and representation for some.

My country has a problem and she has infected us all

because colorism is a problem

when brown, black, and yellow children bleach their skin

widen their eyes for access to the golden door
