Dying Planet - A Wakeup Call Poem by Richard St. Clair

Dying Planet - A Wakeup Call

Four decades ago all woken scientists
Were already warning of the time
When disaster will befall each worldly clime,
Leaving all to wring their helpless futile fists,
Powerless while the world erupts in flame
With melting ice-caps, oceanic rise,
Of dangerous flooding, overwhelming tides:
No nonsense this, no false alarm, no game.
For children of the future what will be
Their lives in such a rapid dying world
With all but flags of surrender unfurled,
An unforgiving cruel destiny?
The coming of impending earthly doom
Should waken people like a sonic boom.
