I've just read your profile and you come across as a very caring person. So I thought it's high time I had a look at your poems. You've certainly achieved your ambition to be a poet and, judging by this one, a very good one too. It's funny you should mention twilight but it's the one time of the day I hate driving. Night driving I like with its sharper detail. I know this might sound a little mundane. Your poem hits far deeper cords. A definite 10. Tom Billsborough

Thank you Tom. I am still in the process of posting things I wrote years ago but soon will get back to more current work. Thanks again for the rating.

Between the lines of this poem I sense a deep peace and acceptance the last line might even be a good description of our true nature?

I was trying to convey several ideas - that night is not fearful nor is death, that most of our sins are minor and forgivable, and that the dust that we return to is stardust.

Yes, a return to stardust. Peaceful and without pain.

It is good to read a poem that can actually make you reflect, and this one does that: it is true, dusk precedes the night, and it does feel a little frightening at times, especially when you are somewhere new or alone.

And hopefully death is ultimately no more frightening than night.
