Dual Seas Poem by Mark. A Heathcote

Dual Seas

The fate of love or friendship
Resides in the push and shove
Of dual seas, calm then gruff

At times cruelly demented.
Two shores weathered by love
Fall apart - drift apart unexpectedly.

Ricocheted by oceanic waters
They batten down loose sails,
Go down below to the ship's quarters.

Charting for calmer, bluer waves
They lock down all hatches.
Dreaming of sunnier promenades

Not lashed by sand, high wind
Just interlocking fingers, balustrades
Twigs of tamarisk intertwined.
