Driver Poem by Melvyn Massoumi Goudarzi

Driver

Parents decided to take me a taxi
And
I had no tongue to say I don't wanna go
But I'm destined

A taxi
in a very winding road

with no light
with no signs
with the clods of slingers
with a noisy radio on
with a weeping radio announcer
with no station

fast and careless

with obstacles
with ups and downs

Now in the one way
left or right?

After a while
I know
It's not whereabout my destination
It's another road, Parents
why am I abandoned in such a taxi, God
I couldn't drive, is that why?
My old map was in your holy book
But I'm now so far
from where I left it there

Driver
please get back
some say, if I cry you will
some say, if I fight you will
some say, if I be patient you will
and my eyes still see
you keep driving

Wherever and whenever
I'll never decide to take someone a taxi
