Dreams Of Yesterday Poem by Eberechukwu Emmanuel

Dreams Of Yesterday

I saw the way her wrapper was tied -
So tight that the wind couldn't respond.
I saw the way each meal was made -
Without spice and written recipe.
I saw the way she danced -
Like the only star in existence.
I saw the way she loved -
Without surrendering to self.
I saw the way she smiled -
As though she own world.
I saw the way she stared at me -
With a love so pure as heavens snow.
I saw her beauty, I heard her voice -
I heard her laugh, I saw her tears -
I called her grandma, she called me child,
In my dreams of yesterday.
