Dreaming Of A Green Christmas Poem by Mary Champion

Dreaming Of A Green Christmas

She says:

'I am so virtuous.
I have too much.
I am rich but I will buy nothing for Christmas because there are desperate people who can't even afford to eat. Even some working people have too little to live on.'

The Cynic responds:

'Many of them rely for what income they do have on crap jobs - manufacturing, packing and delivering the useless tat you used to buy at Christmas.
Because of your simplistic decision, they will lose their crap jobs
and have even less. All this because you are so self-righteously virtuous, safe within that opaque bubble where you spend your privileged life.'
