Dreaming Away Poem by Kelly Boutin

Dreaming Away

Stardust falling in flakes of snow,
hibernate away your home
and fly away into the cold.
Little bird, where are you now?
Chasing white shadows down?
Little bird, how far have you come?
The little bird doesn't have a home.
Fly away, be free, it's okay if you die
spread your wings, protect your things
and stay and cry.

Don't think, in a dream the city lights are your wings
the car's broken hearts
all fall asleep.

Yes, we don't hurt if we sleep,
but stay awake
nightmares find us when we dream.
