Drainage Baby Poem by Kelly Boutin

Drainage Baby

Drainage baby,
gutter child,
broken safety
living in exile
drainage baby,
cemetery child
living in denial.

Broken pawsteps
walking the last mile
to reach the dreams
of a gutter child.
Drainage baby,
the raindrops fall
here's the thunder
spin a web
like a spider
the leaves fall in
it gets lighter
move your home
into a gutter.

drainage baby
keep warm this winter

Little mittens
in the cold
frozen fingers
=[it's not so cold=]
here's your daddy
he's a snowman
hug him and you'll be frozen
here's your gingerbread mother,
here's your home in a gutter
see, you were meant to be a writer
drainage baby,
gutter child.
