Downfall Poem by vicki christison

Downfall

When I said you broke me
You misunderstood
I know that was your intention
But you aren't that good.

You wanted to destroy my very soul
You wanted to crush me and
Bring me to my knees but you
Don't have that much power over me.

After all the things life has thrown my way, did you really think it would be you and these games you tried to play?

Games don't scare me because I'm too grown to play. Immature little men
I could find everyday.

My life consist of trauma and grief and real life grown shit. I've survived it all so you sure as hell won't be my downfall.

So let me rephrase what you think I said.
You broke my heart and hurt me a lot but baby to break me takes way more than you got.
