Never let fact interfere with farce. The show must go on. Truth is a beautiful empty vase which has been lost and nobody remembers what it looks like. Great poem, Will.
Quite simply stunning! Love the closeout, certainly does read as troubled but brilliant nontheless.... Great write/read! HG: -) xx
I've read this one of yours twice - it impresses even more the second time. Dark yet tinged with hope in the third from last line, it is beautifully written. Patrick
Come to the muddy window. The air is minging (as they say in Scotland) . But there is still joy, still love, still light! It's just that it's never been as stifled as now by the forces (and all the processes leading to this 'strange fruit') you've so eloquently and brilliantly sliced up! 'a darkling plain' it may be but some one has to stand and fight. This is a stand Mr Barber. You're on your own Mr Barber! No, I don't think so. The Scholar Gypsy's concerns seemed overwhelming to him then. What would his reaction have been in days such as these! Disbelief. Too many cliches (where is that damned acute accent?) in this comment he might have thought. But they're all from the heart. Your work is superb. If Tailor Bell is impressed.... what can I say! jim
something definitely awakens here in these troubling words. brilliant work, Will. awesome read. -Tailor
Absolutely worth further readings to fully appreciate... Rhetoric rules in government, while we are left to search out truth without facts, quite often. Have faith, not in the system, but in something higher. Your friend, Esther
This is a great construct Will. The diatribe does not descend into rant and so the piece as a whole, is great and works well.
Eloquent, pensive and worldly wise. This is a poem of pervasive sadness. Take care, Will. Kind regards, Sandra
Love this one Will.. Also love Matthew Arnold's poem of same name. ('cept the revisited I guess! !) Great poem. HG: -) xx
