Don't write a poem
with obscure words
that I have to look up
before I can understand.
Let your meaning be clear
from the very first words.
I am a simple soul
who needs basic images.
Don't write a poem that tells
how you are all alone in the world
and that nobody loves you
or understands you.
I have troubles and worries of my own
without having to hear about yours.
Instead, write a poem that lifts me up
and makes me feel better about myself.
Write a poem about how lovely
the mountains are in the springtime,
and the wonderful animals
that abide there, and the flowers.
Write about that bubbling brook
with the hungry trout
about to take your hook
and the soft green grass on the bank.
Write about the sparkling sea
and the smooth-gliding sailboats
sliding along the surface,
and the shimmering sunset.
Choose something you love
and are passionate about,
and explain it to me.
I'll be waiting right here.
I agree. Some people try to be far too clever and it ruins the poems. In any case, it's not necessary and so pretentious.
BELLE! ! ! ! Did YOU really write this? ? ? PH should really post a 'WARNING! ! ' on any 'depressing poems' 's pages. REALLY! ! !
Yes! You 'got that right! ! '. NO Sad Poems OR Obscure Words should be allowed on PH, period! ! ! Let's vote on it. : ) bri
One of the great things about living in a democracy is that poets have the right to choose what they wish to write about. That luxury is not afforded them under an autocratic government. That aside, I still love your poem!
OK I agree and disagree with you on a few things, your right it's great to read nice poetry about nature and ice cream, eat. Now should poems use bi words maybe not, sometimes it's pretentious but it's also nice to learn something. Sad poems....
