Don't Take My Consciousness Poem by Akham Nilabirdhwaja Singh

Don't Take My Consciousness

You've taken my everything,
Stripped me bare,
Taken it all, left me in despair,
But don't take my consciousness,
My mind so clear.
For within my thoughts,
I hold what I hold dear.
Though you may claim
The treasures I own
My spirit and wisdom
Are still my own.
So take what you will
But know this refrain:
You can't steal my essence
My heart, or my brain.
