You're a wonderful personality
with finer pet qualities,
very dependable in duties
used in jobs of infinite variety:
recreational riding, packing or pulling
an enjoyable companion even in trailing.
You're a perfect and loving baby seater
for your small stature and thoughtful nature.
Affectionate you're with the handicapped and children,
for a nervous horse you're a calming companion.
You're well known for stubbornness,
as to pet you it's essential to win your confidence.
During war you brave horrible conditions
and carry food, clothing, weapons and ammunition.
You guard sheep from canine predators
and alert the flock to probable dangers.
People ill-treat you and call you a fool
but you're a don with keys worldly wise and cool.
You're a key to recreation and jubilation,
a key to affection and relaxation.
To most of the difficulties you're the master key,
innocent and adorable you're men's faithful friend Donkey!
