Does It Really Rain Diamonds On Neptune And Saturn? Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Does It Really Rain Diamonds On Neptune And Saturn?

Heavy lover withdraws from the first meeting
Puts space between the group without transport
Shuttles hopes pinned on an optimistic divide
Does it really rain diamonds on Neptune and Saturn?

Such an image, stirs science fiction jockeys and painters without portfolio
Dribbles purple assembly line futurism
We spill ourselves praying hope will absorb
We spill ourselves and others stomp through the puddles

Work all day, fail all night, and fantasize a better place
Where jewels litter the landscape and generous people surrender with a smile
Where colorful happenings trump grey headlines
And the halo you wear is attached at birth

I would just kiss a star who slummed upon the Earth
And knew how to mix hesitation with flirtation
She pulls away from the ambidextrous rut
Does it really rain diamonds on Neptune and Saturn?
