Do your eyes have teeth?
Round and irregular cesspools
Ready to chew and bite off newly formed limbs,
Don't you know? Don't you know?
We are the fathers of the followers of tomorrow.
The ravenous vultures are cycling overhead.
Once more, the way forward
It is never straight or unwavering.
Look around you.
Have you dropped your lowly crown?
Dispensed with any careful certainty
Love will one day be found.
Dispensing with all your dreams
The earth is opening up beneath your feet.
Where love once resonated in its healing belief
Where hope is discarded, you sense a stagnation.
A need to bleed an eagerness
To join in the crowd and embrace
Your own inevitable defeat
Dispense with your own idealistic ideas.
And values and drown regretless tonight
In the ashes, the bushfires perpetuated
by fraternising arsonists, devils of your kind.
So, your humanity can't be found.
Can't be found, can't be found. Are you proud?
Are you proud? Are you an angel or a devil tonight?
A modern-day serpent, finding gods in every cloud.
Clouds in every god.
Look around you.
Have you dropped your lowly crown?
Dispensed with any careful certainty
Love will one day be found.
