Do You Know? Poem by Sangavi -

Do You Know?

Do you know?
Everybody receives care in childhood.
Well, I did too
But my mind said, 'Who cares?
I won't let you feel it,
I won't let you understand it.'

Do you know?
Everybody receives care in their teenage years,
Though the way is different.
And yes, I did too.
But my mind said,
'It's my decision
I'll let you understand it
But in the wrong way.'

Do you know? '
Everybody receives care in adulthood too.
And yes, I did too.
At last, my mind whispered,
'Okay, this time I'll let you have it.'
But it was too late
I had already forgotten
What care feels like.
Forgetting the care,
Life began to hate me
It didn't want to care for me anymore.
To avoid becoming a burden to life,
I went to death
And asked for care.
This time, death replied:
'I care for many
But you're not in my list
Come later.'

What shall I do,
When neither life nor death
Is willing to care?

Maybe -
If I learn to understand care,
Life might care for me too.
And maybe
Death will, one day too
What shall I do?
If the death care for me on the same day as life?

Do You Know?
POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is about the quiet battles inside the mind — how sometimes we are given love, care, and warmth, yet our own thoughts refuse to let us feel it. By the time we realize what we've missed, life feels distant, and even death seems unwilling to embrace us. It's a question of timing, memory, and whether learning to accept care within ourselves might invite it back from the world.
