I really like this one, David. I like the image of the crimson petaled poppy. A very timely poem at this time when we need so much to support our troops. War is such a necessary evil when it comes to defending one's country. Will there ever be an end to tyrants? Another timely subject. Yes, you raise a good point about remembering our fallen heroes. Somehow a stone memorial seems a trivial tribute. best, alicia
David, thanks to your goodself and others the necessary process of reminding people goes on. It's a great service you perform. The more conscious we remain of the tragic loss of life on the 'waste of war' (Burns) the greater the chance of ensuring that our political servants (for such is what they are) will seek other means of resolving disagreements. Very fine words indeed. jim

Excellent write, David... a purposeful message and brilliantly composed. Well done! ! Brian
Sometimes I think we do forget, it's good every now and then to remind others of these men and boys and lets not forget the women also who played their part. It is crucial that we never forget these harsh and trying times and never forget those who put their lives on the line. A great poem David, one that needs to read by many.----Melvina----
