Do Not Tell Our Children. Poem by SY Wong ...

Do Not Tell Our Children.

Do not tell our children
Do not tell our children

We are eating potatoes everyday
It is not necessary for them to know

We worry about them
There's no need to let them know.

We have been sleeping under the bridge
This, you must not let them know.

We have sold the house to paid for medical bills
They won't know.

They won't know
They don't have to know
There's no need
This life of ours will soon pass
It is better that they don't know.

They still have a long way
and children to raise.

As long as we keep it to ourselves
They won't be able to know.
lest they worry unnecessarily.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I know someone spent his fortune paying his wife's medical bill
His wife is gone, his children are overseas.
He sleeps sometimes in a church or elsewhere but his home.
He didn't want his children to worry.
He loves them.
