I have always loved this poem. It was read at both my mom and dad's funeral. It's just the most beautiful poem for a loved one who has left this world to go on to the next.

I'm sure I studied this poem in 6th grade. That was in 2012-13.

This poem was originally written and published as 'Immortality' by Clare Harner in 1934. The words are slightly different in this version.

I love this poem. I think it is such a beautiful way to remember a loved one. It say exactly what I would think my dear Mother would say. It's also the way I hope any loved ones will remember me. 🙏❤

I liked it very much, it is very true what it tries to express and give us to understand. When a person dies, he does not really die, he is free. The body remains there but the spirit does not. Among the literary techniques I could find two, Assonance and Metaphor.

This poem was not written by Mary Elisabeth Frye. It was written by Clare Harner in 1934. Ms. Frye would hand out Xerox copies of the poem with her name on it.
