Do Not resuscitate it read
The sign beside his hospital bed
No brain activity you see
Dead to the world, but not to me
A partial sigh had opened eyes
But nothing we could recognize
He lay there still as he had done
Since he fell ill in '91
"Let go", they said "it's time rest
Take the tube from off his chest"
So we let go, but he did not
Continuing to sigh a lot

A subject that's very difficult to write about. A very heart wrenching poem written with great empathy. Excellent write, Phil.
