Last night my little sister asked me if dreams came true,
it took me some time to think of what I perceived.
But when I decided what indeed I knew,
I gave her the answer which I truly believe.
I told her, 'I think that dreams come to be.'
I said, 'they're almost like petitions or a plea.'
As I said this, I thought why would God not in his good mercy,
answer these prayers for me?
I told her that many people thought wishes are silly.
That people thought they were but childish things,
but then I told her what I thought they were really,
that they were in a way prayers of the mind to the king of kings.
I told her that not all prayers are answered in this life,
this world is broken, ruined, and wrought with strife.
But I said I think someday in heaven's other existence,
those wishes those dreams will be answered in perfect consistence.
For the wishes and the dreams are just fleeting mists,
hopes of what in this world can in full never be.
Yet the hope which is the spirit of the wish and dream persists,
and someday in paradise the better answer we'll see.
This life is filled with winding ways,
and rot with treasons, sorrows, death and decay.
but glimmers of God's perfect beauty still shines through,
he made those for a reason, to inspire dreams in you.
Because someday those dreams he'll fulfill,
those wishes will come true and never die away.
In that place where tears will never spill,
and he will walk with you and I for eternal days.
