Distant Is My Salvation

Distant Is My Salvation

Cares turn to despair as the rain falls,
Weltering eyes cry as aspirations die.
Future fingers slip through, for nothing is done;
Nothing comes, for it is done before it all begins.

So blessed yet cursed, what could be worse?
Sorrows for tomorrow come silently creeping in.
Desperation turns to vexation, yet I yearn,
Vigilantly standing here, for I am not where I belong.

Destiny, I missed her tender kiss,
The fragrance of her hair, oh, how I wish I were still there.
Hope smiles, but just for a while;
Anxiously desiring love's embrace once again, my finest friend.

Dreams come true, but not for you;
Wishes wasted, and anguish I've tasted.
So, much more I wanted, yet the past is still haunting.
Rescue responds too late; hence, my fate.

I smile while wearing a frown, not to let you know I'm down.
Tossed in turmoil, slumber's rest comes not to the gargoyle.
Weeping so much for what I can no longer touch,
Distances separate my heart but cannot keep us apart.

When will solace be mine? I cannot find it.
Belief has turned into a meaningless space filled with misery.
Hark, hearing the dogs bark in the dark;
Shadows glow, for I am ready to go.

Scratching out an existence without purpose, I smile,
Behind the masked pain, rain pours as the skies burst open wide.
The warmth I've felt has long turned to winter's cold;
Happiness has faded to a vague memory of the serenity I once drank.
