A very interesting piece. The rather irregular rhyme pattern works well here, and the internal rhymes in the first stanza(knight/light/night) , assonance (she bides in light) and alliteration (shortest day/shadow girl) are good. The contrast between winter/summer, night/day forming a Yin/Yang balance is well done. It repays re-reading.
