Once, we were united Lord,
a great and mighty nation;
when did we fall from grace?
what made us lose our station?
Was it the shattered family,
the right to end a baby's life?
the prayers that we threw out of school?
or the ugly racial strife?
Now, we pray in silence Lord,
some afraid of speaking out;
we've all avoided you my God,
of that, there is no doubt.
And we wonder why we suffer Lord,
when we turn our backs to You;
like defiant children,
undisciplined - it's true.
We're in need of leadership and rule,
or we'll just dissolve, in anger;
indifferent to the outcome,
of the clear and present danger.
