Direct, Unsweetened And Harsh Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Direct, Unsweetened And Harsh

Getting it to appall,
And find offensive.
Truth to take it,
Direct, unsweetened and harsh...
Leaves a bitter aftertaste,
In the mouths of those...
No longer incapable to avoid,
This medicine needed..
To awaken the ones unconscious.
And many more,
Witnessed publicly...
Allowed to make decisions.
Done to do with minds unused.
Or heads vacant.
Not to have ever known truth at all.

Appalled they are.
Upset and offended.
And protest against being threatened,
By the presence of reality.
Attacking them.
While they are made to stay,
A social distance and masked.
As truth...
Direct, unsweetened and harsh,
Dares to be all up in their faces.
