After we left each other
and went our separate ways;
I reflected back on things
that caused our love to sway.
I believed in God's great love
you rejected such a thought;
and slowly, I surmised
in this old world, you're caught.
Caught by deceiving lies
by the prince of darkness;
that casts a web of false deceit
so some don't see the starkness.
Shining in a blinding light
he veils the eyes of men;
spreading false the gospel
once more and then, again.
Shading truth with subtle lies
he stops the ear from hearing;
and laughs with dreaded joy
at things that we are fearing.
That's how we lost our love
my believing and your doubting;
I don't love you any less
but you never heard my shouting.
