Did you ever hear a kite sing?
As it stretched towards the heavens,
pulling and tugging its string.
Did you ever fly one in the sky?
As it nestled in the clouds,
meeting and greeting birds where they fly.
Did you ever let it sail in the breeze?
As it zipped aimlessly high,
soaring and pulling its tail in the wind.
Did you ever hear a kite sing?
As it lifted in joyful harmony,
whistling and crooning with the string.
Did you ever hear a kite sing?
As it swelled a bony frame,
stretching and striving to be free.
Did you ever hear a kite sing?
As it strained onward and upward,
sailing and singing without a wing.
Whether alone or with a friend,
while it is gliding in the wind,
pull the string to your ear,
you may just hear a kite sing.
