Two days earlier you addressed the issue that makes a novel unique: SOMEONE MUST DIE and turned a literary commonplace into a moral crisis. Here you take the DIARY FORM and consider its key components. You suggest two things: the intimacy of a diary, and using it to test possible futures. Obviously you're not ready to reveal your feelings to this man, but you allow yourself to daydream possibilities in the secrecy of your diary. You enhance the value of a diary by treating it as a record of RITES OF PASSAGE.
