Devourer Comments

Your poem is cleanly divided into two halves. The first makes a statement of fact. Then the second half gives us a bold epithet and an emotional appeal. The epithets: The first one is neutral although the word choice edges toward commentary; To say someone is an eater is safe but Devourer suggests something beyond bad table manners, something atavistic. The epithet in the second half - Obstinate - is a moral criticism, and the statement amplifies it. The Devourer is potentially a destroyer - there may be spent earth, a Wasteland, left behind.
