I just finished reading your double quatrain three times - it invites re-reading! It is a remarkably quiet conquest of despair, but I don't mean to diminish the power of the despair the speaker overcomes, which is vividly evoked: When hope became a daily pain, / Despair a nightly sty. At first, I was confused that the speaker left her heart behind, I was protesting, How can she live without a heart? But I realize it's the part of her which has succumbed to despair that must be abandoned. Your poem is just eight lines but it put me through a complex thinking/feeling process - which is what poetry should do.

Jim has been in and out of the hospital for some time now but wishes to thank you for reading his work. In reading his Bio, he started writing at arround the age of ten and only stopped bes=cause of his health. He does though enjoy to hear that people are still reading his poems and are still enjoying them. Chris
