Deserted Poem by Paul WilsonSuffield

Deserted

I open my eyes at the crack of dawn
No cares in the world like you’ve just been born.
Then the fog descends and in walks the pain
You realise at once you’re alone again.
My days were bright and full of fun
But now it seems like my life's all done.
The sound of movement in the room next door
Means the kids are up, the day starts once more.
Its hard to smile and just carryon
When the one you love has packed and gone.
You trusted them with your heart and soul.
Now all that’s left is a gapping hole.
You’ve lived and loved and loved and lost
You’ve don’t nothing wrong but you pay the cost.
They smile and say that you'll be all right
But it’s not you they’re with at night.
You can manage the kid’s house and home
It’s not that which hurts it’s being alone.
You are now one where you once were two
It’s no longer us its just you!
