Depression Said To Me. Poem by Amy Kerswell

Depression Said To Me.

Look here.
Do you know who the hell I am?
I am no friend and am no lamb.
I am here to destroy you.
I am no friend.
I am the enemy.
Im the devil in disguise.

Im The devil in the darkness.
Im the warrior that destroys.

I am depression.
You will never be free.
I will be with you for ever.

So now do you know who I am?
I am deppression
Worse than the devil
I am the devil in disguise
So now be wise

If this is about your experience with deppression, I think it is good for you to be able to write about it, sometimes putting your pain upon the page helps to cope. it is pessimistic, as deppression says it will never leave you, that is not always the case and it can be beaten, yet I gues deppression would never admit to that! ! ! there are some strong lines in this poem and i like the fact that the poem is written by not you but the illness good luck to you and your writing Robin

Amy thank you for sharing. This poem hits the nail right on the head. I have had depression since I was 12, and ptsd since I was 19. It is so sad that we actually have to go through this, but we do, and we try to make the best of it. Again, thank you for sharing. Barbara
