Hold on tight to your delusions
Oh sweet friend that you once were
I'll not be the one to shatter
The dreams and ambitions
That hold you together.
Never let it be said
That I held you back
No doubt left behind to linger
In the minds of those
Who witnessed our demise.
I'll waste no more wishes
For your return to my world
I'll waste no more thoughts
On where you are
And what you are doing.
Yes, I'll miss you on occassion
I suppose that's only natural
The memories will always be there
But I'm packing them away
Safe and secure.
Perhaps you'll think of me
Not that I would will it
Our bridges are naught but ashes
Flying away on a careless breeze
No remains left behind.
We can delude ourselves
That our paths will never meet again
Bu should that ever happen
We could smile vaguely at each other
Leaving behind a discomforting rememberance.
