Demodex Folliculorum Poem by Sophie Allyah

Demodex Folliculorum

O, Demodex mite
Tell your friends I will kill you all
you're not allowed in this site
O, please die and fall

O, Demodex mite
Please stop strolling like my skin's a mall
People don't know you at all
Maybe few but doesn't make it right

O, Demodex mite
You're not visible to our naked sight
You are very, very small
I can't even feel you when you crawl

O, Demodex mite
Not so fragile but in fright
Because you avoid the light
You only leave the hair follicle at night

After knowing this
People now will wonder and ask
And maybe really pissed
Eliminating you mites will be their task

O, Demodex mite
Clueless with might
So cute and eerie at sight
O, Demodex mite

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Caused by make up and oily skin
Demodex mites are eight legged,0.3- 0.4 mm long, sausage shaped arachnids that live in the pores of our facial skin. They are particularly fond of the hair follicles of eyebrows and eyelashes, and the oily pores most common on the nose, forehead, and cheeks. The symptoms the Demodex mites cause: decreased vision, rosacea, early morning itchiness, falling eyelashes, eye infection, eyelid inflammation, and acne.

Wow! What an ugly creature. Is the Demodex mite the same as biting midges that are also called No-see-ums? Great, enlightening poem. Thanks for posting. : -)
