December Snow Day Wished Into View

there was just a hint of snow
in the crystal air...
sometimes it's that way

when a wish begins
so you wish harder
and the clouds descend

and then: an early present tied with
silver ribbons: a sequined Everywhere!
Ballet begins for us again

when it's snowing in the present tense.

why every time did it feel
like fairy land come down to earth
on every holly bush and fence?

because because my friend,
how could there be
for you or me

a sufeit of shining wonderment?

especially when
we're happy bundled up at home
with no new homework, in our cherry carcoats,

and it isn't even Saturday?
