Deceit Poem by Kingsley Egbukole

Deceit

The profuse proposals of the bee
Anchors its epicurean fantasy
On the sensuous bliss of the hibiscus nectar

Basking and humming endearment balloon ruse
Very light and easily pierced
With even the blunt stigma needles of a sensible bride

But she was overwhelmed and danced gaily
To the wedding rhythms of accomplice wind
To notice the begging signals at dawn

Evening found the hibiscus deflated, broken and fallen
Haunted permanently by true love lost to deceit.
