It is very difficult to 'carpe diem' if you worry about death all the time.
Death is the only certainty in life, so not worth a moment's thought.
I stopped worrying about death fifty years ago when I saw Olivier in his ridiculous interpretation of 'Hamlet'. Almost made me want to cut my throat there and then.
Now I am sixty two. I have faced almost certain death five very countable times, and I still carpe diem and look forward to more carpe dieming tomorrow.
If I go, I go, but life is still too interesting to worry about the end
