Dear Naomi (2) Poem by Sylvia Frances Chan

Dear Naomi (2)
I want to wish you the best of luck
with your tennis match in Olympic Tokyo today

now you still have your quick lunch
you'll be fine soon
do your 'stretching' exercises
everything for the exciting tennis matches

you are the only one
who has become famous in a very short time
just because you are yourself

you beat Serena in the US Open,
you became number one
Serena couldn't believe she lost from you

eversince you are mentioned as the first best paid sportswoman in the Forbess list

like the people in Iran
is your surname the place where you were born
the town Osaka near Kyoto, Japan

your 'simple' way of life and your modesty adorn you,
I can see that in the way you act

when you see how sad the other becomes
after having lost from you in a tennismatch,
you comfort the other one sweetly

I could go on and on and my prose poem will be epic
thank you so much that you'll read my poem
when time allows you, dear Naomi
