Dear America (For Allen Ginsberg) Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

Dear America (For Allen Ginsberg)

Rating: 5.0

Dear America,
Let me write on my mind
And tell you what I see
I see fascism rising by the Christian Right
Don't tell me to shut up
And censor my choice of books
This is the twenty-first century
And we are not Purtians
You are going the wrong way--Backwards
America, we can't go home
We have to face the past
The hurt of slavery
And the suicidal ejection of homosexuality
Killing the young who don't know their love is good
Any love is good
Why do you think you can control my mind
And others?
